DESCRIBE-Treatment
DZNE - Clinical Registry Study on the documentation of innovative therapies
Background and aims
The DZNE therefore aims to examine participants over time through regular assessments as part of the DESCRIBE-TREATMENT study. The study is open to people who are being treated with newly approved therapies or new therapies that become available in the future. Any neurodegenerative disease being treated with a new therapy can be included. Currently, this documentation is being conducted in parallel with standard care for two therapies: Lecanemab (brand name Leqembi) and Donanemab (brand name Kisunla).
Overview
The DESCRIBE-TREATMENT study is a long-term study that tracks the progression of the disease over an extended period. Participants will take part in several in-person study visits, which will be arranged to fit in with their routine medical appointments
Course of the study
Records will be kept of the results of examinations conducted as part of routine medical care. These include medical history, medications taken, clinical neurological examination findings, and the results of tests assessing, for example, memory, language, and motor skills. If any scans/measurements such as a 3T MRI scan (3T MRI), an electroencephalogram (EEG; measurement of the patients' brain waves) or nuclear medical scans (FDG PET, DAT scan, SPECT scan) are carried out for diagnostic purposes, their results will also be recorded.
In addition, a blood test and, if necessary, further examinations such as 3T-MRI and neuropsychological tests should be performed.
