„Parkinson – auf dem Weg zu neuen Therapien“: Lecture by Prof. Thomas Gasser
Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease. Like Alzheimer's, it is not yet curable, but Parkinson's has a very high therapeutic potential: in other words, the symptoms are treatable and people with Parkinson's can live to a ripe old age.
Why Parkinson's disease became known in the 19th century as "shaking palsy", what progress has been made today in understanding the causes of the disease, what therapies are therefore already possible and what the current state of research is, will be discussed by neurologist Prof. Dr. Thomas Gasser on the occasion of World Parkinson's Day in the lecture „Parkinson – auf dem Weg zu neuen Therapien“ (German only). He is head of clinical research at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Tübingen. In addition, he is the medical director of neurology with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases at the Neurological University Hospital in Tübingen.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as part of the exhibition "The Brain. In Art and Science" at the Bundeskunsthalle (in cooperation with the DZNE).
