DZNE Will Perform Scientific Monitoring of Use of „Leqembi“
Study within the framework of DZNE’s research network
Bonn/Germany, September 1, 2025. According to the manufacturer, the novel Alzheimer’s drug “Leqembi” will be available in Germany as of September 1. DZNE will perform scientific monitoring of its use. This study will be based on DZNE’s nationwide research network, which involves cooperation with ten university clinics throughout Germany. The findings are intended to help optimize treatment and prevent side effects.
Following EU requirements, the drug manufacturer will also gather data on treatment and efficacy. A registry has been created for this purpose. “However, we are launching an independent study for research purposes and are pioneers in this field,” says Prof. Gabor Petzold, DZNE’s Director of Clinical Research. “In Germany, DZNE is the only neuroscience research institution with the resources to conduct such inter-site studies in order include as many people as possible who receive the drug. Our study is designed so that information from therapy with other similar drugs can be incorporated, provided these drugs are approved in the EU.”
