Clinical Neurodegeneration

Prof. Dr. Johannes Levin

Areas of investigation/research focus

The group of Professor Levin is focusing on neurodegenerative diseases via working with patient cohorts with good knowledge about the underlying pathology. These include dementia syndromes such as autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease (within DIAN), Alzheimer disease in individuals with Down Syndrome, genetic as well as sporadic Frontotemporal Dementia and neurodegenerative movement disorders such as Multiple System Atrophy or Corticobasal Syndrome. In these populations the overarching goal is to conduct research facilitating treatment trials. This includes further clinical characterization, biomarker research with a focus on diagnostic and dynamic biomarkers as well as planning and conduct of treatment trials.
