Munich: Change of Leadership
Munich (Germany), February 4, 2026. At the beginning of the year, the neurobiologist and neurologist Mikael Simons assumed the role of spokesperson for DZNE’s Munich site.
Prof. Dr. Mikael Simons has been head of the “Molecular Neurobiology” research group at DZNE since 2016 and is also a professor at the Technical University of Munich. His research focuses in particular on glial cells in the context of age-related, neurodegenerative, and inflammatory diseases. He takes over the role of Munich site speaker from Prof. Dr. Christian Haass, who held this position for many years and continues to work for DZNE as a researcher.
