Background and goals
There is common understanding that living well with dementia is highly relevant given that most dementias are currently not curable. Accordingly, gaining a better understanding of how people with dementia can have positive experiences, a better quality of life, and maintain their ability to manage daily activities for as long as possible are major research objectives. Therein, social relationships and interactions, participation in social activities, and social support can play an important part in improving well-being. Yet, there is still not enough research outlining what aspects are particularly important for the course and symptoms of those with dementia. Aim of this project is to investigate different aspects of social health from the perspective of people with dementia themselves and examine their relevance regarding well-being.
Participate
For this survey, we invite people with dementia who want to share their experience on social aspects in their life. Those who are interested in participating will receive a paper questionnaire to fill out at home. After six months, we will ask participants to fill out the questionnaire again to learn more about how social aspects change over time and how this affects well-being.
