How does Corona affect memory?

How can this be realized as simply and effectively as possible?

Corona crisis has an extensive impact on all areas of our lives. Many effects of an infection with the corona virus on the human body are still unknown. Within the framework of a so-called citizen science study, the DZNE is therefore investigating the effects of the pandemic on memory.

An app for smartphones and tablets that has been tested in international studies is being used to conduct the study. The app calls for regular memory tests.

The study is being conducted in cooperation with the IKND (Institute for Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research) and the Magdeburg-based start-up neotiv. In the current study, the company acts as a technical partner. The data collected is evaluated exclusively anonymously at the IKND and DZNE - and is neither commercially exploited nor passed on to third parties.

Study participation

Participation is very simple:

  • Any person over the age of 18 can participate - regardless of whether that person has or has had COVID-19.
  • Download the app for smartphone or tablet.
  • Memory tests: once or twice a week (duration: 10 - 20 minutes) during the first three months, less frequently thereafter.
  • Participation can be cancelled at any time by uninstalling the app.
