Hans and Ilse Breuer Foundation announces publication prize 2026 on the subject of dementia
For the sixth time, the Hans und Ilse Breuer-Stiftung is awarding a special prize for outstanding young researchers (doctoral or postdoctoral) for excellent publications in the field of dementia research. Starting this year, a new award structure will apply: In the future, there will be one Best Paper Award for Fundamental Research and one for Health Care Research.
For each category up to three papers will be awarded. The prizes are endowed as follows:
• First place: 4,000 EUR
• Second place: 3,000 EUR
• Third place: 2,000 EUR
The prize money is awarded for the personal use of the recipients. Scientists working in a research team at one of the ten DZNE sites are eligible to apply.
Eligible submissions include original publications with a verified online or print publication date between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026. In cases of shared authorship, a letter of consent from the co-authors must be provided.
The award winners will be selected by an independent jury of international scientists who are not affiliated with the DZNE. A ranked shortlist will be created from all submitted publications. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees will make the final decision.
The announcement and awarding of the prizes will take place during the 24th Eibsee Meeting „Cellular Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration“ (November 16 to 18, 2026),
