Alzheimer doctoral scholarships by Hans and Ilse Breuer Foundation

Young researchers, take your chance and apply: The Hans and Ilse Breuer Foundation announces doctoral scholarships for 2023. Funding is provided exclusively at the DZNE for doctoral projects and that are dedicated to researching, alleviating and curing Alzheimer's disease or similar diseases of old age. Possible topics include fundamental research, clinical research, and health care research, including the development of innovative health care concepts. Applications must be submitted by the end of September 2022.

For fundamental research, the call is aimed at students of natural sciences such as biology, biochemistry or chemistry, but also human and veterinary medicine, as well as for health care research to students of health sciences, human medicine, psychology, public health, social sciences, sociology, statistics and biometry. The call for applications is exclusively for doctoral projects at the DZNE.

Applications can be submitted electronically in English to the Foundation's Board of Trustees until 30 September 2022: info(at)breuerstiftung.de. All further information on application can be found here.

The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which includes fundamental researchers, healthcare researchers and scientists working in industry, evaluates the applications received and makes a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. On this basis, the Board of Trustees decides on the allocation of the grants for 2023.

Über die Hans und Ilse Breuer-Stiftung: Die vom Land Hessen als "Stiftung des Jahres 2016" ausgezeichnete Hans und Ilse Breuer-Stiftung hat es sich seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2000 zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Lebenssituation von Demenzkranken und ihren Angehörigen zu verbessern. Die gemeinnützige Einrichtung mit Sitz in Frankfurt am Main engagiert sich einerseits mit dem eigenen Demenzzentrum "StattHaus Offenbach" in der Betroffenenhilfe und fördert andererseits die wissenschaftliche Grundlagenforschung zu Demenz. Seit 2006 verleiht die Stiftung den mit 100.000 Euro dotierten Alzheimer-Forschungspreis, mit dem bislang 22 Preisträger gewürdigt wurden. Ebenfalls seit 2006 hat die Stiftung bereits 35 Stipendien an den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs vergeben.
