35 Years of Munichs Alzheimer’s Society

On October 27, the Alzheimer Gesellschaft München e.V. (AGM) celebrated its 35th anniversary together with the DZNE, the Cluster of Excellence SyNergy (Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology) and the Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research (ISD) of LMU Klinikum München.

Klaus Holetschek, Bavaria‘s State Minister for Health and Care, opened the event at Munichs Center for Stroke and Dementia Research with a welcoming speech.

Subsequently, Tobias Bartschinski (Managing Director of AGM), Prof. Christian Haass (Speaker of DZNE Munich and of SyNergy) and Dr. Katharina Bürger (Head of ISD’s Memory Clinic) reported on AGM’s commitment and research on Alzheimer’s disease. „DZNE, SyNergy and ISD have been in close interaction with the AGM for many years. The AGM does enormously important work for the benefit of people with dementia and their relatives. It was an honor and pleasure for us to participate in this celebration.”

In addition, the renowned cartoonist Peter Gaymann joined the event by video. In many pictures, he has addressed the subject of dementia in a humorous way. During the evening, some of his drawings were auctioned: This raised 2,290 euros for the benefit of AGM.
