That is the mission of the DZNE. Everybody counts for us in his very special life situation. More and more people today can live healthy and self-determined and grow old. We owe this to many major breakthroughs in research and improved health care. However, neurodegenerative diseases continue to present very special challenges - still, these diseases are not curable and their symptoms can only be alleviated to a limited degree.
As a research institution, the DZNE wants to foster dialogue with the public, because the knowledge in this field of research is increasing rapidly. In recent years, the latest techniques have been developed, with which we can investigate the causes of the diseases and improve the "look into the brain" again and again.
At the DZNE, the focus is on the human being, and new approaches to diagnosis and therapy should therefore reach the patient quickly. This happens on the one hand through an intensive exchange among scientists and doctors, but also patient societies. In addition, we share our knowledge about new research results, new ways of prevention and risk factors through direct dialogue with society. For this we offer, for example, the event series Music & Brain or a hotline for doctors, patients and affected persons. Further informaiton is found here (German only).
