38th Music & Brain, 08 May 2017

On Monday, 8th May 2017 at 6:00 pm, the DZNE will present the 38th installment of our Music & Brain series at the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn (Colmantstr. 14 - 16, 53115 Bonn).

Admission is free and starts at 5:30 pm. No registration is required.

Pauline Larrouy-Maestri, scientist at the Department of Neuroscience at the Max-Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, will present a lecture entitled „Singing in the (b)rain – On the perception of correctness“. Her presentation focuses on the acoustic information available to a listener during a concert and the cognitive processes behind a listener‘s evaluation of musical performances. Recent findings and ongoing experiments will be presented that aim to better understand what drives music perception, and more generally to address the question of listeners’ appreciation of artistic performances.

The lecture will be followed by a solo recital of Krisztián Palágyi. The young Hungarian accordionist will perform masterpieces by J. S. Bach, Alfred Schnittke, Glinka and Mantovani, partly arranged for his special Italian instrument, a “Bugari Black Line Omnia“. Born in 1991, he has already established a renowned reputation: He performed together with the Duisburger Philharmoniker, the Ensemble Modern, and amongst others, with the Sascha Waltz Dance Company (during the opening of the Elbphilharmonie).

Finally, we invite you to a small reception!

We look forward to seeing you on 8th May!
