The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) investigates the causes of diseases of the nervous system and develops strategies for prevention, treatment and care. It is an institution within the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres with nine sites across Germany (Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten). The DZNE cooperates closely with universities, their clinics and other research facilities.

Within Dr. Dan Ehninger’s research group at the DZNE in Bonn, the following vacant position is to be filled:

Research Technician (f/m)

Dr. Ehninger’s research group is interested in the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cognitive impairments associated with neurological disorders and brain aging. To this end, they employ genetic mouse models and in depth behavioral assessment, combined with molecular, physiological and neuroanatomical approaches. Your tasks:

  • Genotyping
  • Management of mouse colonies
  • Purchasing consumables
  • Maintaining and developing lab infrastructure
  • Organization of daily work in the lab
  • Assistance with experiments
  • Support of scientific activities

Your profile:

  • Completed training as technical assistant (e.g. MTA/BTA/CTA) or Bachelor in Biology or similar/higher qualification
  • Competence in molecular biology, biochemistry and other basic lab techniques
  • Good organization skills
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience with mouse work is desirable
