Dr. Marcus Conrad

Curriculum Vitae

Marcus Conrad studied biology until 1998 at the University of Konstanz. After his studies he became a Ph.D. student at the Institute for Clinical Molecular Biology and Tumor Genetics of the former GSF-Research Center for Environment and Health (now the Helmholtz Zentrum München) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (LMU) and finished his doctorate in 2001. He stayed  at the GSF in Munich as a postdoc until 2004. From 2004 to 2005, he joined  the Department of Comparative Medicine of the GSF as a project leader. Subsequently, Conrad moved to the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, to the Institute of Oncology and Pathology to Prof. Arne Östman. In 2007 he worked as a guest researcher in Japan at the Yamagata University, Tsuruoka, with Prof. Hideyo Sato. Afterwards he returned as group leader to the renamed GSF (now: Helmholtz Center Munich). He conducted research at the Institute for Clinical Molecular Biology and Tumor Genetics before joining Bayer Schering Pharma AG, Berlin, as Laboratory Head in 2009. Since May 2010, Marcus Conrad has been working at DZNE in Munich as head of the transgenic unit.
