Prof. Dr. Jörg Tatzelt

Jörg Tatzelt received his PhD (summa cum laude) in 1992 at the University of Cologne, Instiute for Genetik, Department of Virology, in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Walter Doerfler. As Postdoc and fellow of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) he worked from 1993 to 1996 in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Stanley B. Prusiner at the University of Californa, San Francisco. At the same institute he was employed as Assistant Professor from 1996-1997. Subsequently he was group leader at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry, Department of Cellular Biochemistry, until 2005. In 2002 he habilitated and received the Venia legendi for genetics. Tatzelt is a member of the Society for Neuroscience and the American Society for Cell Biology. Since 2006 he is member of the Alberta Prion Research Institute (APRI) College of International Review and editorial board member of the “Journal of Biological Chemistry”. In 2006 Jörg Tatzelt was appointed as Professor of Neurobiochemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. Since 2010 he is associated with the DZNE in Munich.
