Dr. Daniele Bano

Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Daniele Bano graduated and received his PhD at the University of Padova (Italy). During his PhD program, he was visitor scientist at the University of Konstanz and at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Toxicology Unit, University of Leicester (UK). In 2002, he moved as postdoctoral fellow to the laboratory of Prof Pierluigi Nicotera at the MRC Toxicology Unit, where he studied the changes of calcium homeostasis during neuronal degeneration. Then, in 2007, he moved as postdoctoral fellow to the laboratory of Prof Michael O. Hengartner at the Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Zurich (Switzerland). Between 2008 and 2009, he was a Program Leader Track at the MRC Toxicology Unit, University of Leicester. Since 2009, Daniele Bano has been Research Group Leader at the Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE), Bonn (Germany). The two central themes of his programmes are: 1) the characterization of pathways involved in calcium-mediated cell death: 2) the identification of genes that can delay ageing using the nematode C.elegans and how their human orthologues can be relevant targets against age-related disorders.
